We Should All Wear Shades
We Should All Wear Shades – lyrics
We love who we love,
That’s nothing at all strange.
It’s been going on forever,
It’s never going to change.
It’s destined, we’ll be one,
Let’s just face the fact.
We’re already down that road,
We’re never coming back.
Maybe we should all wear shades,
Then we’d be color-blind.
Let’s face it, with our shades on,
Everything’s shades of brown.
So, let’s embrace the other,
Cause it really is just us.
Maybe help our brother,
And have a bit more trust.
They’re not coming for us,
We all just want our share.
If someone gets a little more,
Why would we even care?
Well, maybe we should all wear shades
Then we’d be color blind.
Let’s face it, with our shades on,
Everything’s shades of brown.
Shades of brown, shades of brown,
Everything’s shades of brown.
Shades of brown, shades of brown,
Everything’s shades of brown.
Just put yourself in shoes
That do not fit your feet,
Then walk a mile in those shoes
On a stranger’s street.
What looks will you get?
Will someone call the cops?
Let’s think what we can do,
To make the violence stop.
Maybe we should all wear shades,
Then we’d be color blind.
Let’s face it, with our shades on,
Everything’s shades of brown.
Yeah, let’s all wear shades,
So we’ll be color blind.
Let’s face it, with our shades on,
Everyone’s shades of brown.

Musical Steps – How We Should All Wear Shades was created
How it Started
I wrote this song during the pandemic motivated by social and racial inequities throughout the country and the world.
What Was Next
Luca Vincenzetti created an exquisite guitar track. Ezequiel Jaroslavsky added instrumental and vocal tracks to improve the composition before expertly mixing and mastering the final track. Alexis Fehr added her beautiful voice and harmonic talents to deepen the feeling of community in the song. Thank you to each of them for their talents and willingness to share those talents.
More Work
The right music adds to the power of words. Backing meaningful words and music with carefully chosen images and video should enhance and deepen the experience for the viewer/listener. I hope that is the case with We Should All Wear Shades.
